A party-list group claiming to represent poor children has been able to afford television ad placements costing about P24 million with the countrys biggest network, according to an election consortium monitoring campaign spending. That the party-list group mimicked a popular political advertisement of a presidential candidate has raised the eyebrows of a member of the consortium. Akap Bata appeared to be an affluent party-list group because it was able to afford an advertising contract worth P23.6 million with ABS-CBN Broadcasting Corp., said Malou Mangahas, executive director of the Philippine Center for Investigative Journalism (PCIJ). In 1939, at the dawn of the Holocaust, Bolivia was one of the few countries in the world to allow Jewish immigration. In the city of Cochabamba, there were once more than two thousand Jews. Today, there are less than one hundred. NO WAY TO SAY GOODBYE is the story of this dwindling Jewish community as seen through the eyes of director Jonas Jacobs. The film is both an intimate portrait of a community in peril and a quest to define a modern Jewish identity.

This film is like a good record album with a dozen or so songs—each distinct and interesting, but together forming a greater whole, a theme of how to save our resources, says director Lindblom. Those songs are, in fact, the stories told by the people interviewed while walking through magnificent outdoor settings in Land Water People Time—tales of homesteading, intercultural cooperation, and, above all, living and loving the New Mexican land itself. Descendants of Native Americans, Spanish and Anglo settlers are featured. Their histories, as touched upon in the film, involve tribal, international and civil wars—raids and conflicts which eventually gave way to peaceful trading and cooperative effort to survive droughts, famine and the trials of time. Their music is performed in the film by singer Veronica Ortiz and guitarist Ronald Roybal.
